Will it be the fastest 5000m of the season?
The 5000m will pose a challenge for the young but talented Selemon Barega (ETH). Having dominated the beginning of the season, he will be up against some tough opponents among them being Muktar Edris, the current World Champion. There will also be Birahnu Balew (BRN), Abadi Hadis (ETH) and Aron Kifle (ERI), all three are ranked in the top 5 in the world this year, as well as, Paul Chelimo (USA), silver medalist at the Olympic Games in 2016, who will have a strong outside chance this year. With such a talented lineup, the winner could dip under the 13-minute mark, a performance that has not yet been achieved this year.
The Swiss, Julien Wanders, who is currently training in Saint-Moritz, will be hoping to use this race to propel him forward and make a big statement in the European hierarchy while finishing under 13:20.
