Audrey Werro and Ditaji Kambundji to face the world’s best at Athletissima

Athletissima is announcing spectacular line-ups for the 100m hurdles and the women’s 800m at its 50th edition on 20 August in Lausanne. Swiss stars Ditaji Kambundji and Audrey Werro will notably face Olympic champions Masai Russell (USA) and Keely Hodgkinson (GBR).

The depth of talent in these two events will be exceptional. In the 100m hurdles, European silver medalist Ditaji Kambundji will go up against world record holder Tobi Amusan (NGR), Jamaican Ackera Nugent (who already has three podiums in the 2025 Wanda Diamond League), and Nadine Visser (NED), who finished 4th at the Paris Olympics. Masai Russell is currently the fastest woman of the year with a time of 12.17 seconds set in Miramar, Florida, early in the season.

This 100m hurdles race will carry the “Diamond League+” label in Lausanne, meaning the prize money for the winner will be doubled (to $20,000), with significantly increased payouts for the runners-up as well.

The 800m will feature the two fastest athletes of the year—Tsige Duguma (ETH) and Georgia Hunter Bell (GBR)—along with the fifth-fastest, none other than Audrey Werro. The Swiss runner and Athletissima ambassador recently claimed the European U23 title in Norway in impressive fashion, leading the race from start to finish and clocking 1:57.42.

These three young women will take on Olympic champion Keely Hodgkinson, who has yet to compete this year and whose return is highly anticipated. Also in the line-up is fellow Briton Jemma Reekie, a four-time winner in the WDL to date.

Athletissima will take place one week before the Wanda Diamond League final in Zurich, with many qualifying spots still up for grabs in the two events announced—promising fierce competition.

The Lausanne organizers will unveil more star athletes in the coming weeks. As a reminder, the event will be held in front of a sold-out crowd.
