Duplantis Back in Lausanne

Armand Duplantis will make his big return to Lausanne on 20th August at Athletissima. The double Olympic champion, world record holder, and seven-time world champion in pole vault will be the headline act of a City Event that promises to be spectacular once again.

This will be the Swedish prodigy’s eighth appearance in Lausanne. He first competed there in 2017, when he was not yet 18 years old and largely unknown on the top international circuit. Even then, the organizers had shown their keen eye for spotting emerging talents.

Nine years later, “Mondo” has set the bar incredibly high, at 6.31 m, his current world record. In seven appearances, he has won three times in Lausanne: in 2020 with a 6.07 m jump at Place de l’Europe in the city center, in 2022 with 6.10 m, and in 2024 at the City Event in Ouchy with 6.15 m, the current meeting record.

Each time, the event has never failed to deliver – especially as the field is always exceptionally strong. This year, the organizers plan to expand the entertainment around the competition and further enhance the fan experience. The event will take place by the lakeside in Ouchy. This season, Duplantis has set himself the goal of winning the Diamond League trophy for the sixth consecutive time.

The main meeting itself will take place the following day, Friday, 21st August, at La Pontaise Stadium. Ticket sales will open on Wednesday, 22nd April. Swiss and international stars will once again be present in large numbers.
