Kariem Hussein, 400mH European Champion – 48’’96 – is looking forward to run Thursday at Athletissima. The weather being ideal – dry and around 27°C – he hopes to get closer to his PB (48’’47). “If there’s a bit of wind to push me forward, it’s even better. But on a 400m, the wind can’t push you forever.” The medical student smiles. Does he feel the public’s expectances after last year’s performance? “A bit but I’m not the world champion”. Meanwhile it’s Ramadan and, in his condition, he cannot respect it. “I have made a donation, corresponding to the sum I spend on food per month.” Kariem Hussein is in good shape, he could beat his PB. For the record, the Swiss record is held by Marcel Schelbert in 48’’13 (1999).
