26 Olympic and world champions lined-up at Athletissima
With 13 Olympic champions from Rio 2016 and 13 reigning world champions from the 2015 world championships confirmed, this year’s edition of Athletissima should be another one to remember. Icing on the cake: 4 of the 17 events - 400m men, 800m women, 400m hurdles women and high jump - of the main programme will feature the top-3 of the Rio Games.

Stellar fields in the men’s triple jump and women’s 400m hurdles
The current world and Olympic champion in the triple jump, Christian Taylor, has confirmed his presence at Athletissima on 6 July. With the 18.11m jumped in Eugene, the American has already proven that he is in very good shape and that if someone is to beat Jonathan Edward’s world record of 18.29m someday, that is him.

Special sharing moments with serbian long jump superstar Ivana Spanovic. 5 weeks before Athletissima, the fascinating Olympic and World bronze medallist and multiple European champion welcomes us at home, in Novi Sad. Talk on the town’s most beautiful terrace, training in her own gym, presentation of her medals wall – and of her worst enemy, her balance. Superstar as Novak Djokovic in her country, Spanovic reveals herself as sweet, generous, full of class and humour.

Schippers, Van Niekerk and Lavillenie in Athletissima!
Three superstars have already confirmed their presence the 6th July in Lausanne: the world champion and Olympic silver medallist Dafne Schippers (NED) on 200 m, the world record holder, Olympic and world champion Wayde Van Niekerk (RSA) on 400 m and the world record holder and seven times Diamond League winner Renaud Lavillenie (FRA) in the pole vault. The show promises to be amazing on the ultra-fast track of La Pontaise.

Julien Wanders in the Big League in Athletissima
The young talent from Stade Genève Julien Wanders (21) had a stellar debut on the half-marathon Sunday in Milan (ITA). In 1:01:43, he broke for more than 3 minutes Viktor Röthlin’s U23 swiss record and ran the third fastest swiss time ever behind Tadesse Abraham and Stéphane Schweickhardt. It is the second fastest time for an European this year His big goal for this summer is to run the standards for the London World Championships on 5000 m (13:22). It could happen the 6th July in Athletissima Lausanne.

Lea Sprunger Ambassador for Athletissima also in 2017
The bronze medallist of last year’s European Championships on 400 m hurdles Lea Sprunger will be an ambassador for Athletissima in 2017. She will be looking to get over her disapointement of this winter at the indoor European Championships of Belgrade (SRB). On her road to the World Championships in London (GBR), she will compete against a world class field in front of her homecrowd the 6th July in Lausanne.
