Salwa Eid Naser in 400m and a promising 5000m

Bahrain’s Salwa Eid Naser, the third-fastest woman in history over one lap, will headline a Diamond + Plus 400m at Athletissima (with increased prize money) on 20 August. She will face, among others, the Netherlands’ Lieke Klaver, currently leading the 2025 Diamond League standings.

The Lausanne meeting organisers have almost finalised their line-up. Among the latest confirmed names, the presence of Salwa Eid Naser (personal best 48.14, the fastest of the 21st century), Lieke Klaver, and American Isabella Whittaker(2nd in the Diamond League ranking for the event) promises a scorching lap.

The 5000 m will also be highly competitive. Switzerland’s Dominic Lobalu, European champion over 10,000 m, will take on a formidable Ethiopian squad led by Hagos Gebrhiwet (second-fastest performer of all time) as well as Americans Grant Fisher, double Olympic bronze medallist, and Graham Blanks, one of the season’s revelations in his debut on the professional circuit.

In the men’s 100 m, Courtney Lindsey, runner-up at the US Trials in 9.82, will challenge his compatriot Noah Lyles and Jamaica’s Kishane Thompson, already announced. In the women’s 200 m, American McKenzie Long and Dominican Marileydi Paulino complete an already strong line-up.
