VERNISSAGE OF THE BOOK ATHLETISSIMA 1977 – 2013

This afternoon, the book  "Athletissima 1977-2013" was presented at the Moevenpick Hotel in Lausanne before some 150 representatives from the sports world, politics and economy.

The attendees had the opportunity to exchange a few words with Pierre Delèze, Markus Ryffel and Anita Protti, three Swiss athletes who competed at Athletissima several times and who greatly contributed to the fame of the Lausanne meet. Several members of the Swiss female 4x100m relay, which put the Pontaise on fire in the past years, also attended the vernissage.

Of a length of 220 plus pages, this book was co-written in French (no english version) by several sports journalists, of whom some attended the inaugural meet in 1977. Its aim was to put hosts of precious memories of our event in written form before too many bits of history start to be forgotten.

This book looks back at each of the 38 editions of Athletissima and includes a lot of photographs. For each edition, there is an overall presentation as well as some highlights of the major results of the evening. Of course, one will also find interesting and unknown anecdotes about the organisation of the meet.
