Alonso Edwards (PAN) : « Alonso Edward of Panama (running 200m in Athletissima) was a finalist in the 200m in Rio. He, however is not the first Panamian athlete to reach an Olympic sprint final. Both Lloyd Labeach (100m & 200m in 1948) & Guy Abrahams (100m in 1976) have also achieved that distinction. »

Another Kenyan athlete, David Rudisha, will be a Superintendent after his victory in Rio.
Asbel Kiprop (KEN) : « World 1500m Champion Asbel Kiprop of Kenya, was disappointed in his performance in the Olympic final has said that in the future he will contest some 5000m races on the circuit. Kiprop, who will contest the 1000m at Athletissma was very surprised that no Kenyan made the final of the 5000m in Rio »
Monday the 22th of August
110 m hurdles : The Olympic 110m hurdles final in Rio was the first time in history (1980 boycott excluded) that USA has not won a medal in the event. Former World Champion David Oliver who missed Rio with injury will be trying to stop that trend of failing US domination when competition resumes at Athletissma.
Joel Fearon (GBR) : « He will make his Diamond League debut in Lausanne. He is a British Olympian but not from Rio / He actually was a member of G.B's four man Bobsled team that placed 5th at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi / His best for 100m came on 30 July when he recorded 9.96 at Bedford, placing him No.3 on the British all time list ».
