4 July 2019 – City Event – Women’s Pole Vault
1st Place : Katie Nageotte
"I feel like you can never go in expecting a win. I knew that if I executed things well I had a really good shot at winning and I wanted to do that but I also know this is a tough competition and so it wasn't going to be handed to me."
"It feels good, best competition outdoors and I'm really excited with the height that I put on it and just the way that I was jumping. I know that I'm ready to jump much higher but I'm really excited with the way I executed things today."
2nd Place : Anzhelika Sidorova
"I jumped 4.72 today. It is not a great result overall, I wanted to jump higher. Sure it is a second place, which is always good in Diamond League. From that perspective, it is a satisfaction. The season is very long this year, I have many competitions lined up this year. But these are all preparation events towards the world championships in Doha."
"It was difficult to see the bar as we were jumping into the sun. Nonetheless, it is an interesting set up such city events. It does require familiarisation though and I haven't much experience yet on this type of environment."
3rd Place : Holly Bradshaw
"It was a really amazing atmosphere here. I had a bit of a physical problem today, but I tried not to think about it too much. I was quite excited to do this city event and I was ready as I had put in good training. The fact that I started the season with an injury I am very pleased with my third position today and my 4.72m. After passing 4.72m I felt a little tired and I thought I could try 4.82m and the British record but it didn’t work out. Next, I jump this Sunday at a German street event and go to the London Diamond League from there."
