Captain of the Swiss relay team, Lea Sprunger is in good shape and like her teammates, has improved this season her personal records. “We all run faster than last year which is great for our relay, it’s motivating”, points out Lea. “As for the take-over, we’ve progressed a lot but we can still do better. We take a great amount of risks during take-over. Considering that our progression is good, we have the means to run under 43’’.” The Swiss record is 43’’21.
Tonight’s relay team will be Mujinga Kambundji (Swiss record holder on 100m), Marisa Lavanchy, Ellen Sprunger and Lea Sprunger who will finish the job. “This meeting in Lausanne will be a test before the European Championships (12-17 August). “ Most of the teams in Lausanne will also be in Zurich. Tonight (21h52) Switzerland will face Ukraine, France, Holland, Germany, Britain and Italy. “We can consider a rank in the top 3. Of course, if we win it’s going to be sensational and we will have a mental advantage on our rivals for the European Championship. It’s always worth a try.”
