Amsterdam’s Heroes in La Pontaise
Several European champions from Amsterdam confirmed their presence for Thursday the 25th of August in La Pontaise. The giant Polish man Piotr Malachowski, European and World champion as well as 2016 world best performer in discus throw, will be attending the party. As well as Churandy Martina, freshly crowned on 100 m in front of his home crowd in the Netherlands. He will run the 200 m against Ameer Webb (USA), third last week at the American Trials and qualified for the Olympic Games.
Lea Sprunger : « After Rio, Athletissima ! »
Two months away from the 41st edition of Athletissima, the organisers will fly to the American and Jamaican Trials over the next days and will also be attending the European Championships in Amsterdam to sign athletes proving to be in optimal shape. After London’s Diamond League (22nd and 23rd of July), the startlists for 2016 will be almost definitive. The last commitments will be made during the Olympic Games in Rio.
Bondarenko and Barber up for some great action
In 2013 and 2014, the men’s high jump was one of the most exciting events at Athletissima. The main entertainer of this extraordinary show was Bohdan Bondarenko, who already won both the Shanghai and the Rabat meets this season.
Lavillenie and the Swiss Stars in Lausanne
The 41st edition of the IAAF Diamond League meeting Athletissima will take place on Thursday the 25th of August, just after the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Faithful as any other to Athletissima, the world record holder in the pole vault Renaud Lavillenie will be attending the party this year again.
